IMPHAL July 29: In an act of philanthropy, Kongkham Manglem of Mayang Imphal today distributed seven kgs of rice each to households of Muslim dominated neighbourhood comprising of Bengoon Maning Awang Leikai, Bengoon Maning Leikai, Bengoon Mayai Mamang Leikai, Bengoon Mayai Awang Leikai, Bengoon Makha Awang Leikai, Bengoon Chingya Khabam Leikai, Bengoon Laislam Awang Leikai, Uchiwa Wangban and Yumkhaibam Cheisham Leikai, Bengoon Nung thabi Maning Mayai Leikai.
Speaking at a press briefing at Uchiwa Wangban, one of the sites where distribution took place, Manglem stated that he was taking up the work because of the failure of the MLA concerned of the area to look into the needs of the people.
He further maintained the people of the area have been living with acute apathy of the government.
He further added that he will work to uplift the living standard of the people of the area as long as he can.
