IMPHAL, July 30: A one day constituency level convention on HIV/AIDS was held today at Phungyo Baptist Church, 45 Chingai a/c Ukhrul organized by the Manipur Legislators’ Forum on HIV & AIDS.
The convention was attended by Dr Khashim Ruivah, MLA 45 Chingai, Lhingboi, women secretary MBC Imphal, L Agui deputy commandant 6th MR Ukhrul, Rev Yarngam Muivah, executive secy TBCA, Imphal and Rev HA Thanmi, pastor Baptist Church, Ukhrul as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the function, MLA Khashim Ruivah stated that the issue of AIDS is a world wide issue and in order to control it, we need to spread awareness on the issue to all nook and corner of the state.
He further maintained that the people should not treat people living with HIV/AIDS as an outcast rather we should try to help them lead a normal life. The MLA further maintained that we should uplift their spirits rather than discarding them from our social life.
We should always understand their suffering and should not stigmatize them any further.
