Timing clash of state civil service prelims and SSC alarms aspirants

IMPHAL, July 20: The clash of timing of the examination schedule of Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive Examination (Prelim), 2010 to be conducted by Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) and the Combined Graduate Level (Tier-II) Examination, 2011 to be conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on September 4 (Sunday) has made aspiring candidates of both the examinations apprehensive of missing either one of the two examinations.

The prelims of the state civil services examination has been fixed for September 4 as per the notification of the MPSC made on July 18 while it is the tentative schedule of the SSC to hold the combined graduate tier-II examination on September 3 for statistical investigators and September 4 for the remaining posts.

Ratnamani, who is aspiring to appear for both the examinations, told IFP that the SSC has framed the tentative schedule of the combined graduate level examination in March this year and in most cases the tentative schedule remains unchanged.

On the other hand, the MPSC has made the notification just recently without considering the schedule of the SSC.

He stated that the SSC would surely go by its schedule. The candidates aspiring to appear in both the exams are likely to miss either one of the two if the MPSC does not change the schedule of the state civil services prelims.

Ratnamani further maintained that the combined graduate examination is equally important as the state civil services examination and so many civil service aspirants have appeared in the combined graduate tier-I examination. It would be tough for the candidates to make a choice between the two, he averred.

He appealed to the concerned authority to look into this matter and make necessary arrangement to allow the candidates appear in both the competitive examinations.
