IMPHAL, July 10: The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has appealed to the state government to reinstate HS Verypam, OSD to commissioner, PHED, as the chief engineer of Public Health Engineering Department.
A release of TKS mentioned that Verypam assumed the office of chief engineer, PHED, on February 28, 2009. However, he was transferred as the officer on special duty (OSD) to PHED commissioner on October 5, 2009 without citing any reason from the side of the concerned authority.
The TKS consider the removal of Verypam from the post of chief engineer, PHED, as an act of racial discrimination and it will launch stern agitations if the concerned authority fail to reinstate Verypam as the chief engineer as early as possible, it said.
The release further maintained that state government has totally overlooked the recruitment rules in the case of H.S. Verypam, and instead, allowed an in-eligible superintendent engineer to take over the charge of the chief engineer, PHED. This act of suppressing an eligible officer is a sign of blatant discrimination against the deserving person in particular, and the tribals in general, it noted.
