IMPHAL July 16: The Kuki Students’ Organization of Ukhrul district organized a felicitation ceremony for the meritorious students of the district today at Litan Sareikhong TMES Campus.
The function was attended by Ukhrul MLA Danny Shaiza and president of Kuki Inpi (U), Wungshim Kasar as the chief guest and president respectively.
Executive engineer of PWD, Ukhrul, Wungshim Kasar was the guest of honor while secretary of Kuki Inpi,Ukhrul, Jamneng Taothang and Jamlet Khongsai were the special guests.
During the function, 47 students were given cash awards along with citations.
The chief guest in his speech stated that the Kuki and Nagas residing in the district are brethren and the Kukis should not consider themselves as a minority. “We may be Naga or Kuki, but one should remember that our identity is our heritage and we must be proud of it”
He emphasized that the students are the future nation builders and must refrain from nefarious and other activities unbecoming of a student, they must listen to the religious teachings of the Bible and adhere to its principles.
The MLA also announced that the Litan community hall will be extended and its facilities improved.
Musicals numbers from local artists, Lucky Thangcha Khongsai and Haoneo Baite further enthralled the gathering today.
