Valedictory function of entrepreneurship development programme held

IMPHAL July 28: A valedictory function of the second batch of the sixth phase of the 10 days entrepreneurship development programme for PMEGP beneficiaries was held at the conference hall of the Institute of cooperative management in the cooperative complex situated at Lamphelpat.

The programme sponsored by Khadi and Village Industries commission, Mumbai was organized by the Institute of Cooperative management, Imphal with the main objective to equip local youths of the state with various entrepreneurial skills.

Altogether 56 beneficiaries from each districts of the state had undergone the 10 days training in different trades starting from July 18.

Certificates along with reading materials were handed over to the trainees by the dignitaries present during the function.

Thaithuilung Pamei, IAS, registrar, cooperative societies, Manipur, Dr. Kh. Somorendro Singh, director Institute of Cooperative Management, Imphal and Jeena Potsangbam chairperson NCUI-Women cooperative education project, Imphal graced the valedictory function as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

S. Herojit Singh, programme coordinator was also present on the dais during the function.

Expressing the need to emphasize on entrepreneurial development in the state, the guests present today lauded the institute for taking up the initiative to provide various entrepreneurial skills, to the youths of the state, which are needed to set up an enterprise. Citing the common tendency in the state to opt for government jobs over other lines of work, the speakers asserted that the development of the state is hugely dependent on the numbers of various entrepreneurial establishments set up in the state.
