ADC KPI, three other offices torched by suspected blockade supporters

IMPHAL, August 4: The agitation for demand of districthood of Sadar Hills is taking its toll with suspected supporters torching at least four government offices including the Kangpokpi additional deputy commissioner’s office.

At the same time, at least three vehicles were reportedly set ablaze and inflicted damage to scores ofothers.

According to late reports, the ADC office of the Kangpokpi was set ablaze by agitating strike supporters today around 8:40 pm. Further according to the reports receive late in the evening, the election, treasury and development  sections and two blocks of the three revenue section and the ADC’s office chambers has been completely engulfed by the fire.

However, the fire brigade team is yet to reached the spot, though a team of the Kangpokpi PS is trying to save the paper works of the office.

On the other, another three government offices were also reportedly set ablaze by strike supporters during midnight yesterday.

The ill-fated offices included SDO office Siatu Gamphajol, office of the Executive Engineer PHED-Kangpokpi and SSA office Kangpokpi. Sources informed that the EE office and SSA office have been destroyed beyond redemption during the arson.

Meanwhile, at least three vehicles were also reportedly set ablaze since midnight yesterday along the NH-2, formerly known as NH-39.

In the first incident a Maruti Swift car was set ablaze between Kangpokpi to Motbung area by suspected strike supporters midnight yesterday. Strike supporter further torched a Maruti Van (MN 06L/1288) and a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle beyond redemption at Gamiphai this afternoon.

Reports further stated that at least three other vehicles were damage by strike supporters at Gampijang Saikul road this afternoon and another two Maruti vans at Hengbung along the NH-2.
