AISF jubilee speakers emphasize the `need of quality education`

IMPHAL August 12: I.S. Khaidem, former vice chancellor M.U. during the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the All India Students Federation called for unity to bring lasting peace in the state.

Calling for unity he said that the present trend of felicitating meritorious students by various civil organizations based on localities and communities is in a way, sectarian in nature and will accentuate communal identifications thereby increasing communal divide in the state.

Emphasizing on the present education scenario in the state, he stated that there is a need to inculcate quality education system effectively to cultivate rational thinking among the students.

He also emphasized on the need to cultivate emotional intelligence or quotient, which is part of the thought process of an individual relating to cognitive or perceptual rational powers of the mind. Encouraging the students, he said that the need of the hour in the state today is to educate the students to live together beyond caste, creed or religion in additions to their academic endeavor.

The Platinum Jubilee celebration of the All India Students Federation was held at Iboyaima Sumang Leela Sanglen located at Palace compound today.

The function was also attended by P.Parijat Singh, minister agriculture, labour and CADA, Dr. M. Nara Singh, state secretary, Manipur state council, CPI and N. Mangi Singh, MLA Kumbi a/c and the chairman of MANIDCO.

N. Binoy Singh, president, Seniour citizens for society, MANIPUR, Anil Rajimwale, convenour, All India Progressive Forum, New Delhi and Dr. Kamal Mitra Chenoy Prof. Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi attended as special guests of the function.

The function was presided over by Kh. Inaobi Meitei, state president AISF Manipur state council.

In the mean time, a travelogue by Dr. M. Nara Singh was also formally released today during the Platinum Jubilee celebration which was organized by the preparatory committee, Platinum Jubilee celebration, AISF, Manipur state council today.

The book titled”Ningsingbagi Meehudthongda” is the personal narrative account of Dr. M. Nara of his tour at various places around the globe.
