IMPHAL, August 1: All Manipur Students Guardians’ Organisation (AMSGO) has condemned the upcoming state Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for not providing marks relaxation in the eligibility criteria for SC/ST/ and differently abled candidate. The organization has also asked for rectification of the eligibility criteria at the soonest.
It has said that they will seek legal aid to resist the said examination, incase the government failed to provide five percent marks relaxation for SC/ST and differently abled candidates.
Taking to the media person in a press meet today, held at its Palace Compound office, AMSGO advisor H Kula has stated that the Board of Secondary Education Manipur’s (BOSEM) notification regarding TET is comparable to forfeiting the constitutional rights of the minority groups of the state.
He further added that the recent central TET that was conducted by the CBSE on July 26 had provided a five percent relaxation in eligibility criteria for SC/ST/differently abled candidate.
O Yaima general secretary of the AMSGO has said that their association has submitted a written proposal to the authorities concerned for necessary rectification at the soonest. He added that if the concern authority failed to address the issue then various negative implications will arise.
According to the BOSEM notification under the state government dated July 23, the minimum eligibility criteria for the state TET is 50 percent in the senior secondary exam for Classes I to V while 50 percent in graduation for Classes VI to VIII. And the date of examination has been scheduled for August 28. The test fee per paper is Rs 300 for general category and Rs 250 respectively for minority and differently abled candidate.
