IMPHAL, Aug 22: 18 SIKH Regiment of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) organized a voluntary blood donation camp at ISKON near the Tulihal Airport, Imphal with help from RIMS and State Bank of India- Paona Bazar branch on 21 Aug 2011. The event was organised to commemorate the 2006 bombings in ISKON temple which killed 6 devotees and injured 40 others during the Janmasthami celebrations in the temple. 18 SIKH contributed to the noble event by mustering a large number of voluntary donors and also making arrangements for the entire event. Inspired and led by the Commanding Officer of 18 SIKH, a large number of officers and jawans of the unit donated blood. Apart from the 35 members of Armed Forces, people from all wakes of life including 50 motivated NCC cadets, 60 Civilians comprising students, businessmen and meira paibis donated Blood. The camp was in continuation to the Blood Donation awareness programme which was conducted earlier in the month.
