IMPHAL August 19: 27 Sector Assam Rifles under Red Shield Division in continuance of its persistent endeavors to make Churachandpur free from all forms of terrorist activities, smuggling, drug and wildlife trafficking ,saved an injured deer foal. The foal was retrieved from a dug up pit in the dense jungles near the Singhat by a column of 39 Assam Rifles while on a patrol .The deer foal aged approximately six months had fallen in a pit laid as a trap probably by hunters and was injured when it was discovered. The animal was given immediate nursing and fed. The team interacted with the villagers and educated them of the importance of wildlife conservation. The foal was brought to Headquarters 27 Sector Assam Rifles where it was shown to the press by brigadier V S Ranade, Commander 27 Sector Assam Rifles. The animal has been taken to Imphal to be handed over to the Zoo authorities.
