IMPHAL, August 2: Three cadres of the underground outfit Kuki National Front-President (KNF-P) including one s/s sgt, a personnel of the 6th IRB and a newly recruited police constable driver were apprehended by a team of Lamphel police led by its SDPO and OC yesterday evening around 8 pm from near Langol Game village Zone-II and recovered arms and ammunitions fro their possessions.
SDPO Lamphel PS H Balaram Singh, MPS during a press conference held at his Lamphel PS office this evening at around 4.30 pm mentioned that the entire team of Lamphel police has intensified their frisking and checking duties in their jurisdiction soon after the bomb blast at Sangakpham yesterday afternoon.
Further, speaking at the conference, he mentioned that a combined team consisting of one led by himself and another led by the OC N Ingocha were conducting frisking and checking operation near the Langol games village Zone II yesterday evening when they saw three youths on a Yamaha R 15 bearing regd No. MN04-8643 and blue in colour approaching them.
He also stated that the team stopped the motorbike borne youths for normal checking, however one of the youths tried to escape from the police during verifications after they were made to alight from their motorbike.
However, he added that, the police personnel managed to overpower the youth and made an instant physical checking during which the police recovered two 9 mm pistols loaded with seven live rounds each.
He further maintained that during preliminary interrogation, the three youths revealed that they belong to the militant outfit KNF-P.
The three has been identified as s/s sgt Letkholam Doungel, 26, s/o Khupthang Doungel, Hantinlen Manlun, 25, s/o Thangkholam Zou a rifle man of 6th IRB and Thangminlein Haokipe, 22, s/o Tamkholet Haokip, a police constable driver who is undergoing training at Pangei.
All the arrested militant cadres have been identified as residents of Saikul Muolken village and to be presently residing at their respective relatives` houses at Langol Game village, he added.
