IMPHAL, Aug 10: The newly constructed district veterinary hospital for Bishnupur district was inaugurated this morning by state veterinary and animal husbandry minister N Loken at Bishnupur district head quarter.
Minister N Loken mentioned that Bishnupur has now become the first district to have its own veterinary hospital amongst the nine districts of the state.
He further mentioned that, completion of this hospital will help the farmers of the district to take their domesticated animals and poultry for treatment.
The state government with an objective to provide value added medical facilities for the domesticated animals in the state, had submitted a project proposal under the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources, NLCPR to the central government during 2006-07 for the construction of district veterinary hospitals in all nine districts of the state, the state government proposal was approved by the central government on December 31 2007 for the sanctioned of Rs.748.92 lakh whereas the state had allotted a share of Rs.73.52 lakh for the same.
He also mentioned that, the remaining veterinary hospitals at eight districts of the state will be completed by September this year and will be handed over to the respective publics of the district.
The formal inaugural function this morning was presided by chief whip Government of Manipur, T Mangibabu and three MLAs I Ibohalbi, M Prithiviraj, as guest of honours of the function today.
Meanwhile, before the inauguration of the Bishnupur district veterinary hospital today, the minister had also inaugurated a state of the art laboratory at the Sanjenthong Veterinary department HQ.
The newly inaugurated laboratory will be able to test blood samples of animals to detect spread of diseases amongst the animal population of the state.
The laboratory will be the second such in the entire North east with the first one in Guwahati.
