Books release

    IMPHAL August 11: Two separate translation works were released during separate functions in the state today.

    Devalok (Lairenpak) translated into Manipuri by N.Ningthemjao Singh from Ram Chandra Verma’s Hindi translation of Bibhuti Bushan Bandhopayay’s original work written in Bengali was released today during a function held at the Manipur Press Club this afternoon.

    The book release function of the Manipuri version of the novel published by Oinam Biren Singh was attended by T. Mangibabu Singh, MLA as the chief guest , Prof. N. Tombi Singh, president Manipur Sahitya Parishad as the president while M. Prithviraj Singh, MLA, Rk. Jhaljit Singh, padmashree, H. Kangjamba Singh, ex-Minister and N. Chaoba Singh, retd. Inspector of Schools attended as guests of honour.

    In a separate function held at Lamyanba Sanglen, Palace compound this afternoon, another Manipuri translation work of a Novel was released.

    “Eeshing” translated by Salam Tomba from the original text written in English with the title ‘Water’ and authored by Bapsi Sidwa was also released today. the novel had been adapted from a feature of the same name.

    Prof. Jodhachandra Sanasam, president apunba Manipuri Matam Eshei Kanglup (AMMIK), Soibam Tomba Luwang, former president, Patriotic Writers Forum Imphal  and M.Biramani Singh, programme executive AIR graced the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively. The novel was reviewed by Dr. L. Joychandra Singh, former director, JNMDA,Imphal.
