CM takes state problems to Central government

IMPHAL, August 18: Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has flown into the national capital this afternoon to pressure the centre to provide additional security forces for protection of the National Highways passing through the state.

According to an official source, the Chief Minister taking serious count of the existing problems and grievances faced by the general public in the state due to the prolonged indefinite economic blockade called by the Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee, will meet the union home minister P Chidambaram during his stay at the national capital.

He will discuss the deteriorating law and order situation and will further apprise the union minister for provision of additional security forces for deployment along the National Highways for easy movement of the transporters so that the grievances of the general public owing to the frequent disturbances along the highways could be addressed.

He will also discussed the Sadar Hills issue and the demands of the United Naga Council, stated the source.

The Chief Minister is also likely to have meetings with officials of the Prime Ministers’ Office to review the progress of various projects and schemes implemented in the state under the Prime Minister’s Package, the source added.

While taking the opportunity of being in the national capital, he will also meet with various union ministers and discuss the various developmental programmes and schemes implemented under the different ministries, added the source.

The source has also added that the Chief Minister will return to the state capital on August 20.
