IMPHAL, Aug 21: A rifleman of Imphal West Police Commando, who was injured in a mistaken firing between two teams of police commandos on August 7 at Lourembam under Nambol police station, succumbed to injuries in a hospital at New Delhi today.
The deceased is identified as Oinam Rajkumar, 43, of Iroishemba. He was serving as rifleman in Imphal West Police Commando.
Rajkumar sustained three bullet injuries at his left side ribs during the firing incident that took place between two teams of Imphal West and Bishnupur Police Commando while trying to nab some militants.
The body of deceased rifleman will be brought to Imphal tomorrow. He would be honoured by Manipur Police at 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Complex tomorrow.
