ECI team to review election preparations during 2-days visit

IMPHAL, Aug 2: A full team of the Election Commission of India led by chief election commissioner Dr. SY Quraishi, two election commissioners VS Sampath and HS Brahma accompanied by two deputy commissioners JP Prakash and Dr Alok Shukla will be visiting the state capital on a two-day official tour on August 5-6.

According to an official source the visiting official team of the Election Commission of India during their visit to the state will review the preparations for the ensuing 10th general election to the Manipur Legislative Assembly which is due by February next by the state government.

The official source further mentioned that the visiting official of ECI on their first day to the state capital will hold a meeting with political parties at the main conference hall of Old secretariat at 3pm and will further conduct a review with district election officers/DCs at 10.30 am of August 6 at the main conference hall of Old Secretariat Imphal which will be followed by meeting with the state chief secretary and home secretary at the same venue at around 3 pm.

The visiting team will depart from Imphal Airport after attending a press conference on August 6 at 3:30 pm at the conference hall of the Old secretariat Imphal.

In the meantime, in view of the visiting official team to the state capital, the state government has already declared them as state guest.

The chief election commissioner and the two election commissioners will stay at Raj Bhavan while the two deputy election commissioners will stay at Hotel Classic, Imphal during their stay at the state capital the source added.
