Heavy security measures taken up for ensuing Assembly session

IMPHAL, Aug 22: As done in the past sittings of the state assembly session, the ensuing 11th session of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly which will commence from August 24 will be conducted under heavy security protections in an around the Assembly complex.

According to an official source, for smooth and successful holding of the assembly session state police department has completed preparations for the deployment of state security forces including civil police, Police commandos, MR and IRB in various strategic points of the maintained zones encircling Assembly secretariat during the Assembly session.

In the meantime, as a safety and precautionary measures and for the smooth functioning of the ensuing 11th session of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly commencing from August 24 official parking arrangement for the vehicles of VIPs, officials and visitors are made officially.

As per the official order issued by the chief secretary officer, of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, the vehicles of chief minister and ministers, shall enter through gate No. 1 and exist through gate No. 2 and vehicles of Speaker Manipur Legislative Assembly, opposition leader, deputy speaker, Chairman Hills Area Committee, vice chairman HAC and chairman of three financial committee will parked inside the Assembly complex during the session.

Besides the vehicles of MLAs shall enter through gate No. 3 and exit through the same gate and parked at the western side of the Family Welfare department, vehicles of the government secretaries, departments, press shall not enter the Assembly compound and shall park at the western side of Family Welfare department, private vehicles of the Assembly secretariat staff and employees shall not allowed to parked inside the Assembly compound.

The official order also mentioned that, official vehicles of Assembly secretariat, medical team, fire tender of Manipur Fire Services shall be allowed to park inside the Assembly compound, the vehicles of the visitors shall not enter beyond the crossing point of National Highway No. 39 at the Eastern side of Assembly road at the western side, materials / articles not related with the business of the house and cell phones if any in the possession of the members shall be deposited with security personnel on duty, ministers, MLAs, officers and media persons are requested to switch off their cell phones while inside the house.

It is also further ordered that, all assembly secretariat staff to invariably display their photo ID cards and no construction or renovation works inside the Assembly complex be continued during the Assembly session the official order added.
