House interrupted as protestors shout slogans inside Assembly hall

IMPHAL, Aug 26: The normal proceedings of the on-going session of the state assembly was interrupted for few minutes this evening following an open demonstration by three visitors from the visitors’ gallery by shouting slogans and dispersing pamphlets inside the assembly hall while the session was going on.

The incident occurred when MLA N Mangi was raising the private member’s resolution in connection with the Inner Line permit systems at around 4 pm. Three visitors at the visitors’ gallery identified as H Ibomcha Singh, Kh Lalamu Sing and M Rajen Singh all residents of Heirok village and whose entry pass was given by the MLA, M Oken of Heirok A/C shout slogans ‘arrest us’ repeatedly inside the assembly hall before they were over powered by the assembly marshals.

The agitators also dispersed pamphlets inside the assembly hall which read as “Sinmee singi khanba eikhoigi MLA amattaphaoba leitarabara?” in Manipuri meaning “Is there not a single MLA who cares for the working-class people?”

On the other hand, Speaker Manipur Legislative  Assembly, taking the advantage of the under session made his official proceeding on the breach of privilege of house committed by the trio just after the completion of business the house by seeking  comments from the former speaker and senior members present in the house today.

In the meantime, in response to the official announcement of seeking suggestions made by the speaker during the sitting hours from members of house, senior  opposition MLA O Joy Sing and former speaker, and IPR minister T N Haokip have made their suggestion to deal the matter within the purview of the speaker.

Besides, the official suggestion of the Chief minister to spare any form of the punishment to the trio who have offended the breach of privilege of the house today should be spare after listing their comments which led to open agitation inside the house this evening and draws the attention of the speakers to take serious precautionary measures to prevent such unwanted eventualities during future sitting of the state assembly session and there is need of immediate instructions upon the security concern of the state assembly to carry out intense checking to each and every visitors inside the assembly complex during the session is going on he added.

In the meantime, keeping serious note on the suggestion of the Chief Minister placed on the floor of the house, Speaker made his official announcement that there necessary actions will be take up against the concerned security officers of Assembly secretariat and three offenders will be released after given warning.
