Indo-Myanmar meet discuss to curbs militant

IMPHAL, August 6: The Indo-Myanmar Border Liaison Meeting was held at HQ 57 Mountain Division under the aegis of HQ 3 Corps, informed a statement of the PIB Defense Wing.

The statement said that a 14 member Myanmar delegation led by Brig Gen Tin Maung Ohn, dy cdr NWC arrived at HQ 57 Mountain Division on August 1 by road from Moreh, where they were received by Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen, VSM, delegation leader of the Indian Army and other officers attending the meeting.

The Indo-Myanmar Border Liaison Meet is a landmark event where representatives of both the armies interacted and coordinated on border management issues, it said.  The event also gives an opportunity to further strengthen the bonds of friendship between both countries.

The meeting deliberated on steps to be taken to curb the activities of insurgent groups on both sides of the border and ways of strengthening the military cooperation between the two countries, further maintained the release.

The Myanmar delegation also visited Kolkata and Gaya from August 2 to August 4 and departed for Myanmar via Moreh on August 5, informed the release.
