JD (U) demands all pol parties meet to resolve state issues

IMPHAL, Aug 11: Janata Dal (United), Manipur State Unit has urged the state government to call a meeting of all political parties to resolve the issues pertaining to the demand for a separate Sadar Hills district.

Addressing media persons today, president JD (U), Manipur state unit, M Tombi stated that the SPF government has failed to resolve the present issues of the state. The demand for Sadar Hills district is legitimate but the government has simply ignored the demand for quite a long time, he said.

The people of Sadar Hills are demanding the districthood as per the commitment made by the state government before and it should be fulfilled as it is an obligation of a government to keep their promises. The state government should not hesitate to grant districthood to Sadar Hills or it should also be responsible for the resignations of ADC members if the districthood status of Sadar Hills is not announced by August 15, Tombi averred.

The Chief Minister should resign from the post if he is unable to secure the lives and properties of the people, he demanded.

Tombi further appealed to all concerned to relax their agitations, if the state government is working on demarcating the boundaries of Sadar Hills district.
