Lawyers to abstain duty due to fuel crisis

IMPHAL, Aug 23: The members of High Court Bar Association, Manipur, in a meeting, has resolved that the lawyers would not be in position to attend court till the matter for availability of petrol is solved by August 26.

The bar association in a statement informed that the lawyers took the resolution during a meeting held today at the bar office, in pursuant to the resolution 4 adopted in the meeting on August 17.

It said that the meet further adopted other resolutions after minute deliberation.

The meet also resolved that the bar association shall make a representation to the Chief Minister of Manipur and minister of CAF/PD department for providing 5000 litres of petrol to the bar at the earliest so as to enable the members of the bar to attend the functioning of the Guwahati High court, Imphal bench, it said.

It further stated that the meet agreed to sent a representation to the Chief Minister of Manipur for solving the presnt issue of blockade at the shortest possible period democratically, officially and pending such decision, the national highways be opened officially for enabling the public to use the same and also for easy passage of essential commodities.

The members further convened a meeting on August 26 on the same issue for further course of action.
