Mob vandalises petrol pump

IMPHAL, Aug 3: Local populace today mobbed and tried to demolish Tera bazaar Highway petrol pump after parts of a wall of the pump crumbled upon a man and crushed him to death.

According to local source, the man, identified as Maimom Nabachandra, 56, s/o Jugin of Sagolband Tera Wangthonbi leirak was attending to a water pump behind the wall after dropping his daughter to a tuition centre, was crushed when the wall crumble upon him.

Further according to the source, the locals of the area went to the owner of the petrol pump Nongmaithem Herojit, s/o N Kuber of Tera Heikhrujam leikai to apprise him on the incident however, the family failed to positively respond to the locals.

Angered by the response from owners of the pump, irate locals stormed the oil pump and started demolishing the oil pump, however timely intervention from the police saved the oil pump from further destruction.

Unsatiated locals demonstrated in front of the oil pump after the arrival of the police condemning the failure of the pump owners to construct the wall in a proper manner.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the drainage system along the wall was recently excavated which had loosen the base of the wall.
