IMPHAL, Aug 10: Time has come for the ruling Congress led SPF government in the state to spell out its clear cut stand on the present Sadar hills issue before a possible communal flare up in the state.

Stating this, president Manipur Peoples’ Party (MPP) during a press conference held this afternoon at its Imphal Pologround Maning office mentioned that, previous governments of the state had considered the demands for a separate full-fledged district as genuine.

He further maintained that instead of turning its face towards other new demands of separate districts in other parts of the state, it is high time that the state government turn its concern over the Sadar Hills issue and bring a clear decision on the issue at the earliest.

Further briefing the media persons, he maintained that the delay of the state government in the announcement of a clear stand on the issue has created a new line of communal tension between various communities of the state besides inflicting numerous grievances to the general public of the state due to the prolonged indefinite general strike call of the Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee.

He has further criticized the failure of the state government to maintain proper steps to tackle the present grievances of the public amidst the scarcity of essential commodities and rising price rice due to the general strike along the National highways of the state.

Considering the popularity of the Congress led government which has been in power for two consecutive terms, he maintained that it would be not hard for the government to chalk out solutions to the problem of the common people. The government could provide adequate security forces for the protection of all forms of transportations along the existing National Highways, he added

He further said that the time has come for the Congress led government in the state to resign itself on oral grounds considering the accumulated failures regarding the provision of services for the welfare of the common people.
