Pol parties, student bodies and social organizations strongly condemn Sangakpham blast

IMPHAL, Aug 2: Various political parties, student bodies and social organizations have strongly condemned the bomb blast at Sangakpham Bazar which claimed five lives and rendered eight persons injured.

The political parties which have condemned the blast include Bharatiya Janta Party, Manipur Pradesh, Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council, Janta Dal (United), Manipur State, Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee, Manipur People’s Democratic Front and All India Youth Front, Manipur State Council.

The political parties have pointed out failure of state intelligence agencies to avert such tragedy which claimed the lives of five persons including two school children. They have also demanded Chief Minister Okram Ibobi to step down from his chair.

The general secretary of Janta Dal (United), Arunkumar Srivastav will highlight the present law and order situation and violence in the state at the ongoing Parliamentary session, stated M Tombi, president of JDU Manipur.

The student bodies which have expressed words of condemnation at the bomb blast include Students’ Federation of India, Manipur State Committee, All India Students’ Federation, Manipur State Council and Pangal Students’ Organization Manipur.

The social organizations which have vehemently decried the bomb blast at Sangakpham include Naga People’s Union Imphal, Centre for Organization Research and Education (CORE), Threatened Indigenous People’s Society (TIPS) Manipur, ACOAM-Lup Kangleipak, Civil Liberties and Human Rights Organization (CLAHRO), United Committee Manipur (UCM), United People’s Front (UPF), Federation of Regional Indigenous Society (FREINDS), Committee on Human Rights (COHR), All Manipur Women Voluntary Association, National Indentity Protection Committee (NIPCO), All Manipur Nupi Marup and All Manipur Student Guardians’ Organizations.

All these organizations have termed the incident as an act against humanity which deserves condemnation from all sections of the society. The act of some mindless coward people has led to the loss of some precious lives. The two little girls who were killed in the blast are yet to live their life. Those responsible for this act of terror should be punished by the authorities concerned and necessary steps should also be taken up to prevent such untoward incidents in the future, the organizations have stated.
