IMPHAL, Aug 17: Prof Hidangmayum Nandakumar Sarma has been appointed the vice-chancellor of Manipur University for a period of five years with effect from August 17, 2011.
Prof Nandakumar was born on March 1, 1947 at Uripok Ahanthem Leikai, Imphal. He is at present the senior most professor of Manipur University. He graduated from DM College with 1st class honours in physics and completed his post-graduate studies from Banaras Hindu University.
He was also a scholar of Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London. He was awarded PhD degree by the University of London in 1976 and another PhD degree from Banaras Hindu University in 1977.
