Punjab minister in state to assess working condition of women and children homes

IMPHAL, Aug 31: A three-member delegation of Punjab government led by Prof Lakshmikant Chaula, minister of social security, women and child development of Punjab and her subordinate officials has visited Imphal yesterday to assess the working conditions of various women and children homes run by different NGOs under the funding from the Central government.

Prof Lakshmikant Chaula was accompanied by TR Saramgan, IAS, principal secretary, social security, women and child development of Punjab and Rajmir Kuno, deputy director, social security, women and child development of Punjab.

Soon after their arrival in Imphal yesterday morning, the delegates visited the Observation Home, Girls’ Blind School, Government Deaf and Mute School located at Takyelpat, Sishu Greeha/shelter home for children and de-addiction centre for men run by IWCDC, Integrated women and children development centre Thangmeiband.

The visiting team further made their official visit today at Sneha Bhawan, de-addiction centre for women at Tiddim Road, near Little Flower School, Regional Research Training centre for drug run by Galaxy Club Singjamei, Children Home run by WIGC, Thoubal Wangma Taba,  Awadhar Shelter home run by RVS Wangban,  Age Home and RRTL for aged run by Integrated Rural Development and Educational organization Wangbal.

The team will also visit Nambol Makha Part-I Angawadi Centre, Bishnupur Thiyam Leikai Ward No.8 Angawadi Centre, Naran Seina Mamang Leikai Anganwadi Centre, Children Home run by new life foundation and child welfare committee Moirang.

On their return to Imphal, they will attend a meeting with the officials of state Social welfare department and they will depart Imphal airport for Delhi in the morning of September 2, said an official source.
