Retd VC elaborates on lack of playgrounds in private schools

IMPHAL August 19: The 6th Private School Day organized by the All Manipur Recognized Private Schools’ Welfare Association, Imphal was held at Gandhi Memorial hall, Imphal today.

Dr. I.S. Khaidem, retd. V.C. Manipur University while delivering his speech as the chief guest of the observation emphasized on the need to adopt quality rather than quantity in the academic pursuit of teaching and learning in the academic atmosphere of the state.

Dr. Khaidem, during his speech also mentioned that insufficient infrastructural setup in many private schools in the state will sideline other aspects of the students’ active participation in extra curricular activities.

He was referring to lack of sufficient playgrounds and other necessary amenities in many private schools in the state.

Later, he added that school should be mean for all round development of students.

Dr. H. Nabachandra Singh, secretary COSEM, who was also present during the function as one of the guests of honour, asserted while delivering his speech that by 2015, Meitei Mayek will be included in examinations conducted by the council and added that the council has made all necessary arrangements for this purpose. He further mentioned that transcription of books to Meitei Mayek to be studied in Class (X) and (XII) as M.I.L papers have been approved and the transcription process has already started.

Doren Khaba Nganba, president, AMRPSWA, and W. Chandrakumar Singh, administrative officer edn (s) and L. Mangi Singh under secretary, BOSEM were also present during the function as the president and other guests of honour respectively.

Invitees and teachers from various schools attended the function held today at GM Hall.
