IMPHAL, Aug 30: At least seven militant cadres belonging different under ground organizations were apprehended during the counter insurgency operations conducted in different parts of the state by the security forces and recovered several arms and ammunitions.
According to a release of SP Thoubal, K Yayanta Singh, MPS, the combined security forces of Thoubal district police commandos and personnel of 27AR during their extensive search operations conducted at the general areas of Wangjing, Heirok, Wabagai and Lamjao three cadres of under ground PREPAK identified as Takhellambam Mocha Singh alias Khaba, 33, s/o late T Kumar Singh of Wangjing Awang Leikai, Elangbam Priyokumar Singh alias Nanao, 27, s/o E Hemanta Singh of Lamjao Awang Leikai and Mayanglambam Amitab Singh alias Aboy alias Muquabala alias Gopal, 20, s/o M Doba Singh of Wabagai Thingel Leikai and two cadres of KCP-MC identified as Thokchom Boy Singh, 30, s/o Th Ibochouba Singh and Thiyam Kishan Singh, 20, s/o late, Th Amuchou Singh both residence of Koijuman Mamang Leikai.
The release further mentioned that one 9mm pistol with one magazine and three live rounds and one 1.22 pistol were recovered from the arrested cadres of KCP-MC.
In the yet another search operation conducted by the team of Imphal East district police commandos two more cadres of KCP (City Meitei) group identified as Wahengbam Surjit Singh, 33, s/o of late W Thoiba of Top Moirangkampu and Moirangthem Boing Singh, 37, s/o M Thawanjao Singh of Kongpal Sajor Leikai from Top Moirangkampu near Lai Mandop.
According to a release of SP Imphal East, one mobile phone, one Honda Dio blue in colour were recovered from their possession. On verification by the police they disclosed that they are active member of KCP (City Meitei) and joined the outfit through one Tachou and they were involved in extortion of money from general public, government officials etc. and transportation of arms and ammunitions from one place to another, the release added.
