SPF partner CPI demands promulgation of PR in state

IMPHAL, Aug 30: The Communist Party of India, Manipur state, a coalition partner of the SPF government has demanded the promulgation of President’s Rule in the state taking into account of the prevailing volatile situation.

Talking to media persons at his office chamber the CPI, Manipur Unit, secretary, Dr. M. Nara, recalled that the Senior Citizen’s Forum of Manipur has recently suggested for promulgation of PR in the state after thoroughly studying the past and prevailing situation of Manipur citing the turmoil persisting in the state due to the agitation of the Sadar hills districthood demand committee and subsequent counter blockade imposed by the UNC.

The CPI Manipur endorses the suggestion for PR imposition for the current government apparently has become incompetent in governing the state, observed Nara.

Dr. M. Nara further informed that he met the National general secretary, CPI, AB Bardhan and apprised of situation in the Manipur. The national general secretary CPI in showing his concern for the state sent a written statement to the Prime Minister of India on August 27, to urgently consider the seriousness of the situation and take necessary steps for finding an immediate solution in the state.
