State Trinamool Congress unit criticizes Congress led SPF

IMPHAL, August 5: Reacting to the present law and order in the state including recent Sangakpham bomb blast, president Trinamool Congress, Manipur unit Kim Gangte while pointing towards the state Chief Minister O Ibobi who also holds the home portfolio, has said, “He is not able to protect the life and properties of his citizen”.

While indicating towards the need of imposing President’s Rule in the state, the president speaking to media persons during a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club this evening, said that there is lack of any powerful opposition party in the present state assembly which is very much unfortunate for the general public.

The party president while speaking for her party has also condemned the Mondal bomb blast at Sangakpham which killed four civilians and injured many others.

While touching upon the issue of the government providing assurance to the general public regarding various issues including flood affected areas, criminal activities including killing of individuals by unidentified persons and various others, she has maintained that even though the Chief Minister and his ministers and MLAs are always there to provide assurance to the affected people, the assurances have failed to materialize in maximum numbers of cases.

Further touching upon the sensitive issue of demands for separate districts in the state, she added that the party finds it amusing that while brushing aside the demands for separate Sadar Hills district and Jiribam, the government has mouthed its interest in the creation of separate districts in Ukhrul and Churachandpur. He stated that demands for separate Sadar Hills district and Jiribam have been there for decades, however, the demands for a separate district to be formed by bifurcating Ukhrul was only made recently.

Further criticizing the Congress led SPF government in the state; she stated that in its decade long rule in the state, it has failed to bring any visible development in the state.

Further taking digs at the various projects and campaigns of the present government, she further declared the Zero garbage campaign as a total failure and also added that the government has failed to complete the Imphal Sewerage project till date and there is a bleak hope that it will be completed in the near future.
