IMPHAL July 1: Transporters and Drivers Council has today lashed out at BRO for poor maintenance of NH 57, during a press conference held at the office of the council situated at the vicinity of Mahatma Gandhi avenue in Imphal.

The president of the TDC, H.Ranjit Singh, while addressing the conference termed the manner in which BRO conducts development and welfare works at the highway as irresponsible and further accused the BRO that crores of rupees meant for public welfare are purportedly misuse.

Ranjit resented that in direct contrast to an assurance of a motorable road by February 2011 made by BRO previously, the condition of the highway is worsening day by day. Further during the conference, he decried the government for being silent over BRO regarding the issue.

Appealing for necessary actions from the central and the state government against the allegedly erring BRO, the TDC warned that the council has prepared for taking up its further course of action if the governments failed to act on their appeal to initiate necessary action against the BRO.
