TDC takes initiative to ply along NH-53 under heavy security forces

IMPHAL, Aug 9: Taking serious count on the accumulating public grievances due to the gradual scarcity and subsequent price rise of essential commodities in the common markets of the state caused by the economic blockade and the sudden imposition of general strike along the  National Highways of the state by the Sadar Hills Demand Committee since August 1, the Transporters and Drivers’ Council (TDC) has taken initiative to send the goods carrier trucks from Imphal along the National High way 53, Imphal Jiribam road tomorrow to collect the essential commodities for the state from outside the state.

Stating this H. Ranjit, president TDC during the press conference held this morning at the TDC office further mentioned that, the steps of the council to send the trucks was taken up in due consideration of the increasing grievances of the common people in the state.

He said the mission was a joint effort of the state government and the council wherein the state government is providing all possible security escorts as convoy to a large number of goods carrier trucks from Imphal upto Jiribam along the  National Highway 53 tomorrow on wards, and there is no question of apprehensions by the transporters of the state while delivering their services for the people of the state and appealed to all transporters to come out voluntarily and deliver their selfless services in transporting essential commodities for the people of the state.

He further appealed to all general public residing along the roadside of National Highway 53 to extend their co-operations to the transporters of the state who are in a mission to serve for the welfare of the people of the state, he added.
