UPF reaffirms demand for autonomous state

LAMKA, Aug 26: The United Peoples’ Front, UPF, signatories of the Suspension of Operation, SoO , groups with the central as well as sate government reaffirmed  their political demand for an autonomous State within the state during a meeting of the groups leader earlier between August 23 and 24 at  Guwahati.

According to reliable source, a reshuffle of the leadership of UPF was made according to which the KNF chief Semtinthang alias Thangbaoi will now act as Chairman, the ZRO president Thanglianpau as General Secretary of the UPF and to be the convenor as and when there is JMG meeting with the government L Sanga Hmar leader of the HPC(D) have also been appointed .

The sources while adding that the newly appointed convenor will raise their charter of demand for an autonomous state in the next JMG  meeting said decision was taken for taking up neccessary steps in order to achieve their demands according to constitutional provision guranteed under 244-A in the state

Under the UPF at present there are five revolutionary groups ie the United Kuki Liberation Front , UKLF, Zou Defence Volunteer , ZDV, Hmar peoples Convention , HPC(D) , Kuki National Front ,KNF and the Zomi Re-unification Organisation.
