63rd Farmers Day observed

IMPHAL September 21: “Black-marketeers are running the state. As long as the economic blockade will continue along the National highways, black-marketeers will continue reaping more and more profits at the cost of the general public in the state” decried Prof Chinglen Meisnam of MU during his inaugural speech of the 63rd Farmers Day observation organized by the Manipur Loumee Marup (farmers’ establishment) at the Paona auditorium located, Paona Bazaar in Imphal today

He further lamented that the frequency of goods laden trucks through the National Higways have only increased since the imposition of the blockades however, prices of essential commodities have only continued to rise.

Chinglen further blame the government of indecisiveness on the present political imbroglio, which has caused severe hardship for the public.

He also deplored the inability of the government in bringing an amicable solution with the agitating groups.

Highlighting other issues in the state, he further commended the dedication and contribution of Jananeta J Irabot.

The observation was also attended by Ningthoujam Biren Singh, president, Senior Citizen for Society, Meikram Shamu, Sharat Salam secretary, CPI (M), Kshtrimayum Shanta, convener CITU, Manipur, Langpoklakpam Kunjo, former president, Manipur Loumi Marup, Yumnam Romola Devi, president, All Manipur Democratic Women Association and Shougrakpam Roma Devi  as the presidium members.
