IMPHAL, Sept 24: All political parties of Sadar Hills comprising of Sadar Hills District Congress Committee, BJP Kangpokpi Mandal, BJP Sadar Hills, Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress and NCP Sadar Hills have jointly submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister yesterday demanding the creation of full-fledged Sadar Hills district.
The memorandum was submitted jointly by Thangjakam Misao, president Sadar Hills District Congress Committee, Paosat Haokip, president BJP Kangpokpi Mandal, Seijamang Kipgen, president BJP Sadar Hills, SL Paokhosei, vice-president Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress and Thongkholun Khongsai, president NCP Sadar Hills.
The memorandum mentioned that the people of Sadar Hills have patiently waited for more than 30 years for the conscience of Manipur Government to be clear on their genuine demand for speedy economic development of the region.
It is felt that the over all development of Manipur generally depends on the development of its hills areas. The issue of converting Sadar Hills into a full-fledged District is one such case for serious consideration, it said.
The resolution was taken on July 18 during all district level political parties meeting of Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee.
The political parties also urged the state government to expedite the process of creation of Sadar Hills district as soon as possible.
