IMPHAL, Sept 15: The yearlong diamond jubilee celebration of All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA) kicked off today in a function held at Cheirap Court Complex, Imphal.
The inaugural function was graced by Speaker I Hemochandra, A Indrakumar, president AMBA, Dr Kh Loken, chairman PDA, Dr Kh Ratankumar, chairman MANITRON and MLA O Joy as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Speaker Hemochandra expressed the need for coordination between the judiciary and legislature for effective functioning of the democracy. The judiciary should also lend their valuable support to the legislators while framing any law in the country.
Legal awareness must be given to the public as well as law enforcers from time to time, Hemochandra noted.
Drawing the attention of the state government towards the development of judiciary system in the state, MLA O Joy stated that the infrastructures and other facilities must be enhanced by converting development plan from non-plan to state plan.
The High Court complex should be completed as soon as possible so as to provide better facilities to the lawyers of the state, he enjoined.
There should be transparency in the working of judiciary in view of the welfare of the society, O Joy asserted.
