MPHAL, Sept 14: Taking serious count on the failure of the state government to fulfill the demands of All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) in connection with the teacher eligibility test to be conducted by state education department, the union has called a 24-hour total bandh on September 16 while appealing the tribal candidates to abstain from appearing the examination in Imphal.

A release of ATSUM signed by Emboi Sero stated that in spite of their repeated reminder and suggestion for conducting the TET exam in all the districts, the state government has done nothing but stick to its policy of conducting the exam in the state capital alone so that the government can manipulate the result, and this denial is against the interest of the tribal people.

It further mentioned that, the union has no other option but to call for total bandh from 5 pm of September 15 till 5 pm of September 16 and will also be compelled to go for other means if the state government pushes its way by going ahead with exam.

It is also mentioned that, time has come for the tribal to contemplates on the various issues where they are denied their rights and opportunities, unless they fight unitedly  their future is doomed. And their own people at the helm of affairs will not tale any decision which will benefits the tribals as long as they are not effected and time has come to teach a good lesson to the state government, the release added.
