DC Imphal West office to be additional venue for filling nomination paper to ADC election

IMPHAL, Sept 26: The State Election Commission, Manipur is going to provide the office complex of the Deputy Commissioner Imphal West at Lamphelpat as an additional venue for filing nomination papers in respect of the eight district council constituencies under Senapati ADC and two district council constituencies under Ukhurl ADC, for candidates who are contesting in the pending election of the 10 ADC constituencies, informed Th. Chitra, secretary, state election commission in an order.

It said that the additional venue was provided owing to the request sent by Deputy Commissioners of Ukhrul and Senapati, who are also district election officers of the concerned districts, to provide an additional venue for filing nomination papers due to the sensitive situation prevailing in their respective autonomous districts.

Subsequently, the returning officers or one of the designated assistant returning officers shall be stationed at the office complex of the deputy commissioner, Imphal west at Lamphel to accept nominations from any of the potential candidates of their respective district council constituencies.

The state election commission has earlier announced that the election to 10 district council constituencies which were left pending from the 2010 ADC election due to disturbances from various quarters is likely to be conducted within October last week.
