Employees and students of DOEACC draw govt attention

IMPHAL Sept 6: Eployees and students of DOEACC centre, Akampat today held sit-in-protest demanding the authorities concerned to redress the problems faced by the centre.

A protesting official said that the centre is supposed to be self sufficient as per the directives from the government of India by providing training in IECT areas. As of present, the centre is facing shortage of funds resulting in non payment of salaries for the last five months.

Further, huge expenses are also incurred in running power backup and purchase of water. In spite of these problems, various underground organizations have imposed unresonable demands and have threatened the officials which is a threat to the very survival of the centre and may as well lead to the closure of the centre in the future.

The centre has been rendering services by giving competent techinical education in the field of electronics and computer science at par with any other reputed institutes outside Manipur. We contribute to economic uplifment of Manipur by training many students who are supposed to go outside Manipur for their studies in the areas IT & electronics. Besides concessional technical education are also being provided to the students belonging to SC/ST, BPL and women students from time to time.

This protest is mainly to bring a free and peaceful academic environment and for further development of the centre, the official said.
