IMPHAL September 20: Family members of Sanjenbam Robertkar alias Naoba,29, s/o S Thoiba Singh of Uripok Turangbam Leikai who was arrested by Imphal west ditrict commando as a militant cadre, has claimed that he is innocent.
Speaking to mediapersons at the premise of the Shija hospital Langol, where Robertkar is currently under medical treatment; family members of Robertkar has claimed that he has no connection with any underground groups and that he is an employee of a Delhi based private firm Bornisanj and is working as a managing director.
He was in Imphal in connection with the marriage ceremony of elder sister when Imphal west police arrested him on charges of being a militant cadre on September 18 from inside the RIMS campus, which was also reported by various local dailies, they added.
The family members have also charged that the police didn’t find any weapons from his possession during his arrest; however he was badly tortured by the police such that he was unable to even speak before the CJM Imphal west where he was produced on Monday at around 4:30 pm.
Seeing his condition, the CJM granted him bail on medical grounds and was admitted to the hospital the same day, the family further alleged.
