Five militants including two women arrested


IMPHAL, September 6: The security forces arrested at five militant in separate counter insurgency operation launched in different part of the state.

A statement issued by the Superintendent of Police, Imphal East district, stated that a team of the Lamlai police station led by sub-divisional police officer, Lamlai, K. Meghachandra Singh arrested four cadres of the proscribed KCP (MC) Lalheiba from different part of the Lamlai sub-division.

The arrested individuals have been identified as one Ksh. Amuthoi Meitei, 34, s/o Ksh. Ibotombi Meitei of Chana Thongkhong, Mayanglambam Sobita Devi, 46, w/o M. Angangjao of Sekta Makha Leikai, Ngangom Robin alias Inao Singh, 50, s/o (L) Ng. Tomba Singh of Napet Mamang Leikai and Thongratabam Ibomcha Sharma alias Agya, 50, s/o (L) Th. Hemochandra Sharma of Tellou Mayai Leikai.

It said that they were arrested following disclosure of two hardcore leaders of the outfit Khwairakpam Brojen alias Lalheiba s/o Kh. Sangai alias Kesho of Keirenphabi Mamang Leikai and Ngangom Soviet Meetei, 35, s/o (L) Ng. Tomba Meitei of Napet Pali Mamang Leikai.

It further asserted that Amuthoi was arrested on September 4 while the other three were arrested on September 5. on verification it is established that they were involved in extortion from general public, harbouring and transportation of arms and ammunitions and harbouring of KCP cadres.

On the other hand, a statement issued by the Superintendent of Police Thoubal district, a combined team of commandos of Thoubal police and Imphal West district police, arrested a cadre of the proscribed PREPAK in the wee hour yesterday around 3:20 am while conducting an operation at Minuthong near MMTA.

The arrested woman is identified as one Konthoujam Geeta Devi, 27, d/o of Late K. Chaoba Singh of Konthoujam Mamang Leikai.

Four hand grenades, five detonators and one mobile handset was recovered from her possession, its further said.
