Four hurt in bomb attack

IMPHAL, Sept 12: At least four persons including two minor girls of a family were hurt in a bomb attack triggered by miscreants at a residence Kiyamgei Muslim Mayai Leikai last night.

Reports said that the incident occurred around 11:50 pm at the residence of one Hazi Abdul Gani, 77, retired assistant teacher.

Miscreants lobbed a bomb at the tin roof of the residence and exploded injuring four members who were sleeping. The victims included two grand daughters and two sons of Abdul Gani.

The blast riff off breached an opening of about 3 feet sq.

The victims were identified as one Tashmila Shahni, 14, and Shaliya, 11 daughters of Asique Ali and Md. Abdul Wahad, 32 and Md. Abdul Satar, 20.

The victims are currently hospitalized at Raj Poly Clinic and the two minor girls were said to be in serious condition.

Decrying the attack the local populace of Kiyamgei staged sit in protest demonstration in front of the residence of the Hazi Abdul Gani.

While strongly condemning the attack protestors urged the individuals or groups concerned involved in the attack to clarify the motive behind the attack and urged to prevent such inhumane incident in the future.

Meanwhile, the managing committee, teaching and non-teaching staff, students of Paradise Academy strongly condemned the bomb attack injuring two of its students.

In a statement the school said that bomb only brings destruction rather than solution.

It condemned the incident injuring two of its innocent students for no faults of theirs.
