Guv, CM greet state on Mera Chaoren Hauba

IMPHAL, September 27: Governor Gurbachan Jagat and the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh have conveyed their greetings and sent out their good wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba.

In a message sent to media houses, the Governor has stated that “It gives me immense pleasure in greeting the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba”.

“The traditional festival of Mera Chaoren Houba, which is celebrated in Manipur on the advent of Mera Tha month of September/October) every year, aims at preserving and promoting unity and integrity among all communities of the state.”

It has further stated that while celebrating the festival in its true spirit, the age old tradition of co-existence in the pluralistic society of Manipur has to be deepened.

The governor has further expressed his confidence that the festival will bring about unity and integrity among all of us which will ultimately lead to all round development and prosperity of the state.

Meanwhile, in his official message, the Chief Minister has conveyed his warm greetings and good wishes to the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba.

The official message has further stated that the traditional festival, which is celebrated in the month of Mera Tha every year, aims at preserving and promoting unity and integrity among all sections of the people in Manipur.

“While celebrating the festival, we should try to make utmost efforts to rejuvenate the affection, brotherhood and friendship among all of us. I am confident that the festival will go a long way in preserving and promoting the age old traditions of peaceful co-existence and harmony between the people of the valley and the hills for a more peaceful and prosperous Manipur”.
