Holmes` report ranks Manipuri lad in 100 most influential communicators

IMPHAL September 20: In what could be termed as a laurel for the state, Senjam Raj Sekhar, a Manipuri currently based in Delhi has been named among the 100 most influential communicators in the world by Holmes Report which is regarded as the Bible of global public relations industry.

It is the first ever ranking made by the New York headquartered publication of 100 senior corporate communicators based on external nominations along with its own editorial research.

Some of the criteria used include thought leadership in the global public relations industry, reputation for innovation and status and respect within the organisation and peers.

This prestigious list includes global communication heads from some of the world’s biggest companies like Apple, AT&T, Microsoft, Google, Coca Cola, Pepsico, McKinsey, Unilever and Walmart. The list also features communication heads of the White House and the European Commission.

Senjam Raj Sekhar is currently the director of Corporate Communications for the Vedanta Group, a multinational natural resources group with operations in India, Zambia, Namibia, South Africa, Ireland, Liberia and Australia.

Before Vedanta, he was the senior vice president of Group Corporate Communications for Bharti Group where he led the communications effort of Airtel’s foray into 20 countries in Africa, Europe and Asia.

Senjam Raj Sekhar is a columnist with four national newspapers , The Asian Age, Deccan Chronicle, Mail Today and Financial Chronicle.

He is the son of Senjam Kamini Singha, retired additional SP and Bemarai Singha, president of Dispur Nupi Marup.

The Senjam family is among the most prominent Manipuri families in Assam.  Senjam Raj Sekhar’s sister Ratna Singh is also the first Manipuri woman Superintendent of Police in Assam.  He is married to Dwijorani Hanjabam, co-founder of Extend Brands of Keisamthong Elangbam Leikai, Imphal.
