IMPHAL, Sept 25: A hunger striker who has been on fast unto death demanding a separate district for Sadar Hills at Kangpokpi, has been hospitalized at CHC,Kangpokpi yesterday at around 6:45pm.
Kimjalhai Kipgen, 43 of Kangpokpi has been on a fast unto death stir since August 16 in demand of complete implementation of the Manipur Hills (Areas) Act,1971. According to the Medical Officer at CHC, Kangpokpi, she is suffering from dizziness and acute gastritis due to the prolonged fasting.
The MO further said that Kimjalhai Kipgen has lost 5 Kg while her pulse rate has reduced from 74/min to 68/min. The MO further advised for the patient to be taken to Imphal as her health condition is deteriorating.
While speaking to the media persons at CHC, Kangpokpi, Kimjalhai Kipgen said, “My prayer is my strength. I prayed for my leaders for their success. I also prayed for the government to inaugurate Sadar Hills district as a full fledged district at the earliest and also prayed for the citizen of Manipur to understand our hardships and rightful demand and support us to achieve our long cherish demand”.
She told media persons that she will continue with her strike even as her condition is deteriorating, until the demand is fulfilled.
