Indian Muaythai team leaves Delhi for World Muaythai Champ at Tashkent

NEW DELHI, Sept 18 (NEPS): Indian Muaythai Team delegates under the banner of the Muaythai Federation of India (MFI) have today left New Delhi for participating in the World Muaythai Championships 2011 to be held from September 20 to 27, 2011 at Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

G Marempu Kabui and Naorem Boynao Singh from Manipur are there in the Indian Team. G Merempu Kabui will be fighting in the Junior Male Division of 48 kg while Naorem Boynao Singh in the Senior Male Division of 51 kg.

It may be mentioned that G Marempu Kabui had already won bronze medals in the TAFISA World Sports For All Games 2008 at Busan, South Korea, which was held under the patronage of International Olympic Committee (IOC), and World Muaythai Championships 2007 and 2009 respectively at Bangkok, Thailand.

Naorem Boynao Singh had also won silver medal in the last World Muaythai Championships 2010 at Bangkok.

Amateur and Professional Muaythai Federation of Uzbekistan, an important affiliated Member of International Federation of Muathai Amateur (IFMA), organizes this prestigious World Muaythai Championships 2011 at Tashkent which will be participated by athletes and officials from nearly 150 IFMA-Member countries in the world.

IFMA is recognized by Olympic Council of Asia, SportAccord and also Member of World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Muaythai under IFMA has already been included in Asian Games, Indoor Asian Games, World Sports For All Games, SEA Games, Arafura Games, SportAccord Combat Games, etc. And in India, Muaythai Federation of India (MFI) is the only National Muaythai Governing Body recognized by IFMA, WMC and FAMA, according to a release by Ng Jeet, MFI Central Board Chairman.
