International Day of Peace observed

IMPHAL, Sept 21: The 30th International Day of Peace was observed by Life Watch, Manipur under the theme “Make Your Voice Heard” today at Uripok, Imphal.

The observation was attended by Angomcha Araba, chief administrator of Life Watch, Laishram Indrakumar, deputy chief administrator of Life Watch and N Rajesh, secretary general of Life Watch as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, Angomcha Araba stated that the international day of peace is meant to be a day of global ceasefire when all countries and all people stop all hostility for the entire day and it is a day on which people around the world observe a minute of silence at 12 noon, and further appealed to the people to take the pledge to carry out important decisions on peace taken by the World Summit.

He also appealed to the non-state actors not to call bandh or general strike on the day of various international observances.

A website (www.lifewatchmanipur.com) was also launched by the chief guest today.

The website will offer facility for free legal assistance to BPL families, stated secretary general N Rajesh.
