Macha Leima points irregularities in welfare schemes

IMPHAL Sept 15: Many Gram Panchayets in the state are indulging in malpractice in selecting beneficiaries for the Indira Awaz Yojna to assists the underprivileged villagers in building or refurbishing houses that are provided under the scheme for free said a press released issued by the general secretary of Macha Leima according to information of the RTI file by them in this connection.  The release added owing to non complete sanctioning of Rs. 45000 for building and Rs. 15000 for refurbishment to the beneficiaries has fueled unsatiated feeling among the beneficiaries. The release alleged that the Authority concerned failed to furnished several information seeking under the same RTI which is on the other side is alleged as lack of transparency in the governance.  Regarding this matter the release added that on September 5 Chief information officer of Manipur Information Center R.K. Angousana had taken a decision against the BDO Imphal east I to compensate Rs. 7000 as penalty to the RTI applicant for failing to furnished information in time and for neglecting to respond. However no responds has been so far by the alleged BDO, the resented.

The release further lamented that the authority concerned of various government departments has failed to take up any concrete actions till today regarding such matters prevailing in the state, where deprivation, violations of rights, etc of the needy in our society are frequently reported in the media.
