MADCTA threatens to launch agitations

IMPHAL, Sep 15: All Manipur Autonomous District Council Teachers’ Association have expressed great resentment over the step motherly treatment of the state government to the employees of the six Autonomous District Council in Manipur.

According to a release, the council in its emergency meeting held today at Hotel Tampha, Imphal, the association expressed great disappointment to the government’s different attitudes towards the problems and grievances of the employee of the district councils. In this regard the association has submitted representation and memorandums to the Chief Minister who is also in-charge TD/Hills with lots of hopes for positive outcome. But most unfortunate and saddest thing is state Chief Minister never considered nor referred or forwarded their memorandums to the subordinate officers and staffs, the release added.

It is also mentioned that, state government has committed unfair and step motherly treatment to the employees of ADC by keeping non materialized on the fifth pay Arrears, Christen as 14% DS arrears the period w.e.f January 1, 2001 to June 3o, 2005 vide Govt. order No. 24/99/FD(PIC) dated July 20, 2005 payable to the employees of the six ADC in Manipur, payment of six months arrears to the government employees w.e.f January 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010 in two equal installments have been only in name for the employees of the Six ADC in Manipur, neither the first installment nor the second installment has been given to the employees of the district council in the Manipur till date, the release added.

It is also further mentioned that, the employees of the Six ADCs in Manipur have faced untold miseries cum dependents near starvation and untold economic hardship due to the non release of fund for payment of even their monthly salaries from May, 2011 till September, altogether  five months at this juncture of economic hardship faced by the public due to the prolonged indefinite economic blockade on both the National Highways.

Inspite of all these, government of Manipur, Finance department had issued an order which was published in some local dailies on August 27 last month that, ‘all the government employees except employees of ADCS can draw their salaries for the month of August,. It is a very unfortunate and injustice fro the part of the state government and for the employees of the district councils which is like adding salt to the wound, the release added.

Considering all these facts the employees of the six ADCs and the All Manipur ADC Teachers’ Association and its employees union have decided to start different forms of agitations encase the government failed to release fund for payment of 14% DA arrears, Six month arrears and five month pending salaries to the employees of ADC on or before September 30, it added.
